McCall, Idaho

This is the cabin we stayed at a few weeks ago in McCall. It was really big. It can house 17 people...IN BEDS. It was awesome. Our room had a huge window overlooking the lake. It was gorgeous. The weather was still a bit cold, but it was still fun.

Here is Scot with our little cutie pie!! I thought they looked cute together in this over sized chair.

Cory and Ty enjoying a break together.

Tyler loves his excer saucer. It is one of his favorite toys. Plus, he'll stay in it four a few hours at a time.

Me, posing for the picture!

There was a swing over the lake so Amy and I swung on it. The water was frerzing cold because there was still ice on top of it and also the snow was still melting.

Our cute rosy cheeked boy.

Here we are ice skating in McCall. There was a big ice skating/hockey rink. Cory and I both haven't been ice skating forever. It was difficult at first until we figured out our balance. I only fell once and Cory didn' t fall at all. Cory skated so good. I think he should be in the next Olympics.

Me and Amy smiling at everyone through the glass window!!

Big smiles!

Naptime!

Naptime!
Ty was being something of a butt today, but he finally crashed when I went to get him a bottle. Not to sound like a soft-hearted daddy or anything, but he looked so cute asleep in his high chair that I had to get a picture.

p.s. He woke up fussing 5 minutes after I posted this picture. Oh well! It was nice while it lasted!

April Fool's Day ... 22 Days Late!

OK, OK, OK ... you win!

We just can't hold out any longer!

We haven't really pulled up stakes and we're sorry about making you all wait so long for a Tyler update (although Dan has a cute Ty post here and Amy took some really good pictures - here's the family, and here's Ty).

Tyler's doing great! He seems to have stopped putting on weight, but that doesn't mean he's stopped growing - they boy is huge! He's babbling a lot lately, which means, "mamamamamama," and, "dadadadadadadada," and such, but I don't count his babblings as speach yet, since he doesn't seem to mean anything in particular by any particular sound. Angie might disagree, though, especially since he said, "Mama!" the other day, clear as can be.

He also has two teeth coming in, bottom center. We tried to get a picture to post, but he just wouldn't cooporate. In fact, it took quite a while for us to be able to see them at all when they first started coming in -- he kept covering his bottom gums with his tounge any time we tried looking in his mouth.

Oh! Angie went on a cleaning/rearranging kick lately. The computer is now in Ty's room (and so is Ty) and there are curtains in our bedroom now. I wasn't happy when Dave and I had to spent a whole afternoon/evening hauling things around and trying different arrangements for Angie, but it looks good in the end. Of course, Angie still has plans, but I'll hold her off for as long as I can.

Announcement

We regret to announce our decision to close our blog and remove all previous posts. This was necessitated by the recent harassment regarding the frequency of posts uploaded to our blog. We thank you all for your interest and hope to someday start anew.

Thank you,

Cory's Spot: Recipe: Cuban Sandwiches

I've fallen out of the habit of posting recipes when I try a new one, which is turning out to be a problem since I don’t otherwise keep track of most of them and I’m starting to forget some of the good ones I’ve tried over the last while. Hopefully these posts will be of use to somebody else, but at least I won’t have to keep a hardcopy of my recipes.

Ingredients:
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1/3 lb. thin-sliced (shaved) ham (Virginia and Black Forest hams are quite tasty)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese (that’s Emmenthaler for those who want to get specific)
  • Dill pickles (sandwich slices if you have them, hamburger chips will do in a pinch)
  • Miracle Whip (or mayonnaise if you must)
  • Dijon mustard (honey-mustard is fine, too)
  • Butter or margarine
Assembly:
  • Cut French bread loaf into fourths and then slice each of those pieces in half, leaving one edge connected.
  • Spread one inside side with mustard and the other with Miracle Whip.
  • Add ham, cheese, and pickles.
  • Close and spread butter on the outside top and bottom.
Cooking:
  • Preheat sandwich press (panini grill, George Foreman grill, or waffle iron will work in a pinch).
  • Place sandwich in press, close, and apply pressure (you want to squish the sandwich flat).
  • Cook for about 10 min. or until crispy and golden brown on the outside (I find it's helpful to put something heavy, such as a couple of cast-iron skillets, on top of the press during cooking so I don't have to hold it the whole time).
I like these sandwiches with potato wedges, but salad and chips work as well.

Mom's birthday bash!

On moms birthday Cory and I made her and dad chicken parmesean in a cast iron skillet, with spaghetti, french bread, and a ceasar salad. It was soooooo good. Then later mom opened a few gifts from everyone.

MMMMM...chicken parmesean!

Opps...there goes all our spaghetti!

Mom and dad wait patiently for their meal.

"I want to help you grandma!"

A pretty lantern from dad.

And an awesome glass cake display from Travis and Melanie. Sorry guys, I didn't really get a good shot of it. It was a little blurry so I didn't post it.

Tyler and Chocolate Milk

This is Tyler's friend Jaxon who brought his brand new puppy over to show Tyler. Chocolate Milk is 4 weeks old. Tyler really didn't know what to think. That puppy was so cute though.

Rolly Pollie

Tyler has figured out how to move! It's so cute. He'll lift his legs really high and then turn his body. When I shower in the mornings I put him in his crib horizontally and when I go check on him, his legs are dangling out of the side of the crib anf he's holding on to his crib book. It's way cute!! He just loves that book!

Mmmm...Green Beans!

I didn't feel like messing with baby cereal today, so I decided to feed Tyler something easier to prepare...and potentially much messier to eat - green beans! He wasn't quite sure what to think of it at first, but it didn't take to long before he was happily slurping away and he ended up eating most of the bottle of beans. And as for the mess factor, it wasn't really too bad, mostly because I had him covered up with a bib and a towel and I didn't let him get his hands into things.
