Rexburg Temple

A few weeks ago we were able to tour the Rexburg Temple before it gets dedicated. It was so pretty. I really liked the painted mural done by the artist Dad likes. Leon Parsons. Is that right Dad? He painted a beautiful mountain scenery with deer in the picture as well. I also liked all the chandeliers. Tyler was fascinated by all the lights and kept pointing at them and saying "light." He also liked the sparkly chandeliers. It was a pretty fast tour, but it was well worth the trip.

(Sorry about the bad cell phone pictures.)

Smith and Edwards

These pictures were taken a few weeks ago in Utah at Smith and Edwards. Cory really wanted to stop there, and I reluctantly agreed. It really wasn't that bad once we were inside. I found my way to the clothing, well, mostly the children's clothing. I didn't find anything. Cory and Tyler found these cowboy hats though. Tyler really liked trying them on. He looked so cute in it. We didn't buy them, but now, every time Tyler sees a hat at a store, he has to try it on. I think he's a cowboy deep down inside.

Salsa

I thought this was funny. We were eating at Mama Inez, a local Mexican resteraunt, when Tyler decided he wanted to try chips and salsa with us. He loved it so much that he started drinking the salsa. He is such a Hobbs. Who can resist chips and salsa. Isn't it a staple in all of our diets?

Tyler having fun at Target

I forgot about these pictures. I thought it was so cute. Tyler loves dogs and when we were at Target awhile ago we saw these dogs and let him play with a few. Needless to say, a few turned into a cart full.

I FINALLY POSTED!!!

This picture was taken on the night Cory proposed. Before we even went out. We are so cute.

This is our engagement photo. Why I do believe Cory is clean shaven. I can't believe it!!

1. What's his name?
Cory Scot Miles

2. How long have you been together?
Our first official date was on Nov. 1, 2002. He claims he wanted to ask me out sooner but said since Travis and Melanie were in town, so he didn't. We met at Family Home Evening and he was always flirting with me and then he called me out of the blue....he got my number by going through the phone book under Hobbs and asking for Angela whenever someone picked up. He asked me out that day on the phone for the 1st, but later that evening he drove me to an FHE activity where I had told him the crazy NEWS. But, he still said he wanted to be friends and said he would still like to take me out. We went to Charly on our first date and the relief society presidency was sitting in front of us, Cory and I got over it quickly though. Cory held my hand and put his arm around me that first date. (He is a fast mover.) Then after the movie, we went out for hot cocoa at Arctic Circle. We sat in a booth holding hands and staring each other in the eyes. We were oblivious to the store closing. It was kind of funny. We were both hooked that first date.

3. How long did you date?
Well, Cory proposed in December and we got married in June. So, 7 months. Whoa.

4. How old is he?
He just turned a grand 30 years old.

5. Who eats more?
Cory. Well, since I've been pregnant I can eat a more pickles and sour patch kids than Cory. He definitely drinks more soda than I do though. He's always eaten more than me though.

6. Who is taller?
We are the same height. 6'0.

7. Who is smarter?
I have to say Cory is very intelligent. He also knows a lot of random crap. Like how many squares are on a toilet paper roll. He knows pretty much who's who in music and what they play. I'm a lot smarter in sports and street smarts than Cory. I know whats hip and happening when he has no clue. I do have to say, I'm very smart in what I know and like and he's very smart in his own things. We make a great combination in playing Trivial Pursuit, so watch out. We are a good team. So, I just have to say we are equally smart.

8. Who does the laundry?
Oh boy. This is a toughy. Well, laundry isn't our favorite of chores. I used to be so good at it, since I've been pregnant though, it's been harder for me to be motivated to do it, so Cory has been doing it. He doesn't like to fold it, so I will fold it. And we both put it away together.

9. Who does the dishes?
Me most of the time, once in awhile though, Cory will do them. It's so nice when he does.

10. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed?
Cory. I like to sleep closest to the door.

11. Who pays the bills?
Cory. Thanks to online payments, it's a lot easier for us.

12. Who mows the lawn?
Cory. I don't think I've ever mowed a lawn before. He was so nice and mowed our neighbors lawn along with ours too this past summer.

13. Who cooks dinner?
Cory. Our deal is, that if he cooks dinner, I will do the dishes. Cory is a fantastic chef and can make pretty much anything. Even his experiment dishes taste pretty good. I like to bake though. Well, now that I'm pregnant, I don't like to even be in the kitchen.

14. Who drives when you are together?
Cory. I am a really bad driver. Once in awhile I like to drive long distances like to Utah or Idaho Falls. He doesn't like it when I drive, he claims I get him nervous.

15. Who is more stubborn?
I want to say that I am. But, we are both pretty stubborn.

16. Who kissed who first?
I think it was Cory. He gave me a tender little peck on the lips. Then I showed him how to really kiss. HA HA!!

17. Who proposed to who?
Cory proposed to me on December 14, 2002. It was funny because I had no clue. I had to work that day from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm. I knew I was going out with Cory and when I got home I was so tired. I didn't want to dress nice or do my hair. I just wanted to stay home pretty much. SO my good mother did my hair all pretty for me and then Cory came to the door with a dozen roses. I was so excited. Then we went out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. Then on the way home, Cory stopped at a park and wanted to go for a walk. I resisted because it was so cold outside. Then, he hopped out of the car and opened my door and we walked. He got down on one knee and proposed in the snow. The park was surrounded with trees that were lit with Christmas lights. It was so pretty.

18. Who has more siblings?
I have 3 and Cory has 2. So I do.

19. Who wears the pants in the family?
I like to think that I do, but we both share the pants equally.

Merry Christmas 2007

Mom and Dad's beautiful Christmas tree. The one we had set up at home wasn't quite this pretty. The decorations on ours were only on the top 1/3. Tyler loved the lights and turning them on and off.

Tyler can't wait to open the presents Santa left.

We're so excited.

Tyler and Papa opening up on of the many puzzles Tyler recieved.

And, here's another one.

BLOCKS!!!

Lots and lots of blocks!!

What can it be????

I really surprised Cory this year with the game Carcassone. He didn't even expect to get it. It's now our favorite game. We highly recommend it. The funny this is, Jenni and Ted gave us Carcassone for Christmas too. Yeah for Jenni and Ted.

Tyler is just like daddy with his new tool belt. I wonder what they're going to build next.

New clothes for me. I really needed them too. Thanks Mom and Cory. I'm a cute pregnant lady again.

Cory is building this rocking horse for Mom and Dad for all their little grandchildren to play with. It's been quite the process for him considering he's not really done a ton of wood working before.

Since Cory has been posting some weird stuff lately, I decided it's finally time to post Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we ate dinner at Cory's aunt and uncles house and then, we went to Mom and Dad's for the rest of the night, including sleeping over. It was a blast. Tyler loved Christmas this year. He kind of knew who Santa Claus was, but he didn't know the concept of him. He kept saying "HO HO HO" though. It was way cute. All in all though, we had a great Christmas. It was also fun going to Idaho Falls to see Grandma and the Hatch family. The Hatch kids put on a wonderful program for us. They are so talented.

Merry Christmas 2007 everyone!!!!

Holy Geeky Candy Awesomeness, Batman!

For those of you who don't recognize what this is supposed to be, I'm not sure you're quite geeky enough to appreciate it. On the other hand, the candy detail is pretty awesome in its own right. Check out the full article here, but beware, the author uses some naughty words and such.

Baby's Name

Some of you have already heard us talk about our leading favorite name for Tyler's little brother, but we figured we'd best post it for all to see, just in case we missed anyone.

The name we've chosen is:

Joaquin Manny Miles!

We chose this name because of this, this, and this, and because of this, this, and this.

Food: Fillet Mignon

I've been wanting to make something a little nicer for a while now and I came across just the thing last night when Angie and I were grocery shopping - a whole beef tenderloin (the cut of meat from which fillet mignon comes) for about $6/lb. We went all out today, cooking for Dan & Tammy. We started out with a green salad with crab (imitation, sadly), followed by fillet, roasted potatoes, and steamed carrots and broccoli. Dessert was strawberry shortcake.

Salad toppings.

Dan leaned in to be in the picture with Ty,
so Ty thought he ought to lean in too.

Excitedly waiting to eat.

Waiting again.

The main course - sorry about the orange on orange.

And for those not squeamish about fresh meat, we have some pictures...

Those who have a weak stomach might want to look away...

Don't say I didn't warn you!

...

This is what about 3 lb. of beef tenderloin looks like, cleaned
up and cut into several steaks and a couple of roasts.

Look at that great marbling!
