Blessing outfit.....!!!!!

Well, here it is.

I am finally finished. It didn't take too long to make. I went to my mom's on Friday and we finished it a few hours later. Mom had to help me with the piping. I've never done that before. I was originally going to make the collar and trim on the sleeves and shorts navy blue, but the navy seemed so dark. Mom found this piping in one of her drawers and so I decided to give it a try and I love it. I think it turned out perfectly. I sewed the star buttons on just today. My mother-in-law found them for me. I think they add so much to the outfit. Now, I am officially ready to have Joaquin.

Here is Tyler's blessing outfit. I wanted to make Joaquin's a little different. It's a totally different pattern and I think it fits perfectly for the 4th of July weekend.

Look at what Dad started....

After Dad's little traffic violation Cory and I didn't have the best of luck either. First Cory got a stupid parking ticket because he drove to work and forgot to move his car from one 2 hour parking to another. Good thing that was only $10. Well, on Monday I got pulled over on the way to the bank. Stupid school zones. I was going 31 mph in a 20 mph school zone and I didn't even know it was a school zone. I thought the cop would be some what sympathetic because i was pregnant...but no, he still gave me the ticket and he said that he hopes I can take care of it before the baby was born. OH well. I just can't believe it was $75 dollars for that. At least it's not a misdemeanor charge. Sorry Dad.

Cool picture of Tyler..

Sorry Amy, I had to put this on our blog too. I love this picture Amy took of Tyler. He is just so cute. He really likes electronics, like his dad, and love to watch movies on me and Cory's Zen and on Amy's IPOD. What a cool little boy!!!

Weekend trip to UTAH

I know, this post is a bit on the late side, but at least I finally remembered to post. A few weekends ago we made a weekend trip to SLC. We stayed at Melissa's new house and then visited Jenni and Ted on Sunday. It was a good trip and we went shopping on Saturday and got Cory some new dress shirts for work.....and of course those adorable outfits for Joaquin. I hope I don't have to do any more traveling until the baby arrives. That drive killed my back. We only have less than a month left. YEAH.

Here is cute little Allies playing with all the puzzles on the bed.

Tyler loves watching his cousins play.

A few days before we went to Utah, Jenni and Ted cut part of their deck off. Cory helped move the cut part to the side of the house. They plan on pouring a concrete slab where the deck used to be for a patio type thing. Also, Ted and Cory took out all of the rose bushes that you see lined up. We took 6 home with us and we also left some at Melissa and Nathan's house. Thanks Jenni and Ted.

Here are the girls playing on the swingset.

Throwing rocks in the lake. Tyler loved it. It was very cold outside though.

My two handsome guys.

Our baby rocks!

Cute outfits for Joaquin....

Last weekend we were in SLC visiting Cory's sister and Jenni and Ted. I had to hit a few children's stores while I was there, and Carters was having a 70% off sale. I was in luck. Their whole turtle line was 70% off. I sill think I should've gotten more. Oh well. I will find other cute things for him.

Oh my gosh, I just love these shorts.

I love how the two onesies match the shorts. Man, I should've gotten the pair of denim shorts too.

Cute Easter outfit for Joaquin for next year. I want to get Tyler the yellow and green argyle sweater or sweater vest at childrens place for Tyler. So, if you are reading this, please keep an eye out for sales and let me know if you come upon a size small in those items.

Melanie, I hope you are reading this.

Sidewalk chalk

For Easter Tyler received a bunch of sidewalk chalk. A bucket full from Grandma Miles and then some Easter egg shaped ones from the Easter Bunny. We finally decided to try them out last week for Family Home Evening. It was a major hit. This was Tyler's first experience with sidewalk chalk and he loved it. It was quite messy though. He was pretty cute too, after we had drawn in a box on the sidewalk for awhile he would say, "New page." Meaning he wanted to draw in a square on the sidewalk that hadn't been drawn in yet. I thought it was funny. It was still a bit chilly to be outside at 8:00 at night drawing on the sidewalk, but it was fun.

Here is Cory teaching Tyler what to do.

They are having so much fun already.

I secretly think Cory is having more fun than Tyler.

Now Tyler is starting to get the hang of it.

What a beautiful masterpiece.

This round circle is supposed to be Abby. That's what Tyler kept saying. It's so cute.

I think he sat on every thing he drew.

Tyler is so happy.

Tattoo

I know, I know, for someone who is getting a tattoo removed, what am I doing sticking a temporary one on my two year old?? Well, I thought it was quite funny. Tyler was really fascinated by it for a few days and when it started rubbing off, he kept saying "Uh oh, broke." He kept showing us his pop-tart tattoo everyday. It was pretty funny. And guess what, we have another one. Yes, we have finished another box of pop-tarts and who better than Ty to stick that temporary tattoo on???

Tyler's twin bed

Why I do believe that is the cutest quilt I have ever seen. There is a truck pattern I want to get to make Joaquin eventually. I also thought a matching train quilt would look cute too.

Tyler loves his stuffed animals. I think the snake and the green monkey are his absolute favorites.

Tyler's been in a twin bed for about a month now. We wanted to get him used to it before Joaquin came. He has done marvelous and the transition hasn't been difficult at all. I was a little nervous and we put the crib/toddler bed mattress on the floor next to his bed just to make sure if he fell out, he would have a soft landing. Well, he hasn't even fallen out of his bed yet. I am so proud of my little Tyler. He is growing up so fast. I just can't believe that he is already 2 1/2 years old.

Recipe: Cocktail Sauce

I've been thinking for quite a while that I ought to use our blog to keep track of recipes that turn out especially well. That way, if I ever want to make something when I'm anywhere with internet access, there's no hassle.

With that in mind, I decided to writeup the cocktail sauce recipe we tried out tonight. We've always especially liked the cocktail sauce at the Maddox Ranch House in Perry, UT, but haven't found any store-bought sauces that even came close. We did find a stronger version of Heinz' cocktail sauce that was ok, but I still wanted to try making my own

I started with this recipe from allrecipes.com and simply changed a couple of ingredients to, sadly, less-fresh versions to use what I had on hand.

  • 1 T. horseradish (Recommendation: Beaver Extra-Hot Prepared Horseradish)
  • 1 t. brown sugar
  • 1/2 t. lemon juice
  • 1/4 c. ketchup (Recommendation: Hunt's)
Whisk all ingredients together and chill before serving.
