HIVES.......oh my!

Last week Tyler had an ear-infectioni so the Dr. gave him amoxocillan(sorry about the spelling) and then he broke out into a rash on his stomach and back. The Dr. then changed his medicine tp something else, but the rash never went away. The Dr. thinks he may be allergic to penicillian. This week his rash got worse and so then we took him back to the Dr. yesterday. The good news is that Tyler doesn't have an ear infection anymore. The bad news is that now he's on prednosolne (sorry about he spelling again). He hates it. We have to make him take it. Poor guy. Here are a few pictures of his hives. He wouldn't hold still at all. But you can still see a little bit of them. He's doing much better today. The reddness has gone down. He still has a little rash, but it's not as bad as it was a few days ago.

Tyler has discoverd the toliet paper.....

Tyler has discoverd the toliet paper roll this week. I was in the bathroom getting beautified for my day when Tyler came crawling in. He sat on the floor behind me for awhile. When Tyler became quite I had too see what he was doing. And there he sat in the middle of toilet paper. He loves to pull on it and rip a few sheets off ata time and throw it in the air. He also likes to eat it, which I don't like. Now, every time we accidentally leave the bathroom door open he automatically crawls straight to the toilet paper. Ahhh...what a mess.

Yummy Dinner

What a handsome grill-master!!

Soo cute!

Ty likes the dutch oven potatoes the best!

Cory eating a big bite of chicken.

YUMMY!

After work one night I came home to Cory fixing a delicious meal on the grill. He grilled some chicken and had potatoes in the dutch oven. He then placed the chicken on top of a ceasar salad. Boy, was that ever so delicious. I love ceasar salad. The potatoes were good too. We've been doing a lot of cooking outside because our house gets hot. It's been fun experimenting out there and hanging out in the cooler evening.

Just Hanging Out!

The picture below reminds me of Brian's baby pictures. Doesn't this kind of resemble the picture of Brian on the rocking horse?? I may be way off, but Tyler does kind of look like Brian's baby pictures.

I thought I'd finally update our blog. Here is Tyler just hangin out in his high chair. He's eating fruit cocktail, one of his favorite foods. I think he likes it so much because he can feed himself. He also loves apple pancakes. I think they are quite delightful too.

Cory's Spot: $0.50 Steak!

For those of you who haven't watched Alton Brown's Good Eats on Food Network, you need to give it a try. Beware, though, AB is a geek at heart, and you'll know it the first time you see one of his teaching aides.

In any case, on a recent rerun of Good Eats, AB took plain old bottom round and a Jaccard meat tenderizer and made his own cube steak for Salisbury Steak and Chicken-Fried Steak and such. I decided I wanted to give this a try, so I bought a nice bottom round roast, cut it into 1/2" slices, Jaccarded the heck out of the slices, and froze it all for future use.

Well...I froze all but one piece. That one piece got seasoned with Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper and drizzled with Worchesterchesterchestershire Sauce and left to marinate for 30 min. or so. While that was getting happy, I preheated my new cast-iron grill pan, and then I introduced the steak and the grill to one another. A few minutes and a flip, a turn, and a flip later (to get the groovy cross-hatch grill marks), my steak was done.

It was just a snack, so I had it on its own - no veggies or tubers to get in the way. Ok...I did pour some A1, but that ended up going to waste - the steak was a bit chewy (What do you expect from $1.48/lb. beef? The Jaccard can only do so much!), but nice and juicy, with a warm pink center and a nice sear on the outside. It didn't need any extra sauce.

Now I know this isn't a recipe, per sé, but it is a mighty tasty way to make use of a very cheap cut of beef. Oh, and cast iron...I won't get started on cast iron right now, but suffice it to say, I haven't used the old stainless steel pots and pans any more then necessary for quite a while now!

Thanks to Travis and Melanie for getting me to give the new Diet Berries and Cream Dr. Pepper a try and to David for the idea of using the mini Santoku as a steak knife.

Crawling up the stairs

Tyler crawled up the stairs for the first time on Friday. Dad, Madison, and I were upstairs looking and something and I went to check on Tyler downstairs and he had crawled up a few of the stairs on his own. I stood behind him as he crawled up the rest of his stairs on his own. I'm so proud of him. It's pretty scary though. I'm glad he's learning to get around more. I think it's going to be real soon when he starts walking. He's can already stand on his own with the support of the couch or walls. (I actually can't wait til he starts walking because he's starting to get pretty heavy to carry all the time.)

Fourth of July FUN!!

For the Fourth of July we went with Mom and Dad and Brian, Krista, and Madison to Idaho Falls. We went to the parade first. It was fun to watch Madison get all the candy that was thrown at her. Tyler wasn't into the parade very much. He mostly just tried to eat my water bottle and would try to eat the flyers that people handed out. After the parade we went to Grandma's house and had a brunch. She made corn chowder. It was awesome. I want the recipe. After that we did a little shopping in the 'big city.' Then we were off to Julie and Brads. The barbeque that Brad prepared was so delicious. The meat was to die for. I loved the pork and all the fresh fruit that was there. And being around family was fun. I loved just catching up and seeing what everyone was up to. When we returned to Pocatello, Cory and I went to his parents house and watched the fireworks from their back yard. They didn't start until like 11:00 p.m. because it was windy. Tyler slept through them all. I can't believe it because they were so loud. After the fireworks we played a few games with Cory's family. We didn't even get home until 1:30 a.m. What a late night? It was fun though.

Tyler and Christopher fighting over a brush.

All Tyler wants to do is eat Christopher.

This is the only picture we took of Grandma.

We tried to get Connie to sit back when we took the picture, but she just wouldn't have it.

Nice picture of Mom.

Dad and Linda hanging out.

Krista giving us her chessiest grin.

Brian is exausted from the busy day.

Cute Dreydon on his three-wheeler.

Happy 4th of JULY!!!

Swimming at Ross Park

Last week was so hot here that we decided to go swimming at the Ross Park Aquatic Center. It was pretty fun. They have a normal swimming pool, a lazy river, water slides, and a kiddie pool play area. At first Tyler hated it. But, once he got used to the water and temperature he loved it. He would splash and splash and clap his hands together and laugh. My favorite part was the lazy river. It was fun just floating on an inner tube in the sun.

Me and Ty in the normal pool.

What a handsome pair!!

We forgot a change of clothes for Tyler so he had to ride home in just his diaper. I thought he looked cute in his car seat.
