A quick update....!!!

We finished our basement.....YEAH!!! It looks fabulous. The carpet really makes a huge difference. Now, it's time to move the computer, which is currently in our room, down there. Also, the TV and Entertainment Center will also go down there. I have a little craft table that will be set up just for my scrapbooking and sewing. I'm so excited. It's going to be awesome. I will post some pictures a little later. It's like 2:30 am and I am tired. I just wanted everyone to know that the basement is done. Thanks for all of your help Dad and Scot. We couldn't have finished it without you guys. Thanks.

Also, I finished Harry Potter at 3:00 am last night. I had to finish it. It was really good. It wasn't my favorite book of the series. I still like 4, 5, and 6 the best. But, if you haven't read it yet....READ IT. It's good. I still don't know about the you know what....I don't want to be a POTTER SPOILER. But all those who have read it know what I'm talking about. All in all, it was a good book and I really enjoyed it. I'm just sad that it's over. It was fun to get caught up in all the hype and excitement of waiting for the books to come out and the movies to come out as well.

Another note, the TV in our room is awesome. I highly recommend it. It's really nice to be able to watch the news at night and to watch movies in there.

DON'T WORRY, PICTURES WILL BE POSTED SOON. VERY SOON.

What do teacher's make?

There are a few blogs I follow regularly, thanks to Google Reader's ability to integrate disparate sources into one place and present me with only what's new.

Among those is Thingamababy, where I found this clip:

One last post from Cory

Ok, ok, I'm about done for today, and then you can go back to Angie's nice posts.

I've copied all posts from my personal blog (http://coryspot.blogspot.com/) here to our family blog, albeit minus the comments. They show up on the dates they were originally published and can be found by following the coryspot tag, if you really care to find them. Any future posts of the sort I might have posted to that blog will now appear here.

Project Detour

We can't help it - we just got thrown off track by Dan and Tammy's detour and we had to go on our own little home improvement detour. What can I say? TV in bed is nice.

Mouseover for half-finished status.

WT AC

Talk about jerry-rigged! We don't really like using the single-room air conditioner because it blocks off our one window in our bedroom so we can't get fresh air when we want it. So far this year we've survived without installing the AC, but only because we have these two box fans, which we use to pull the cool night air into the house and blow the hot daytime air out.

Man Skirt

Sorry, Dan, but Angie's jokes are true!

Angie threatened a while back, but I figured I'd beat her to the punch. A while back, David got me interested in the idea of wearing a sarong as a comfortable and cool loungewear option. Initially I just had a bright-colored fish scene Angie had been given by a friend in high school, but I wanted something that was more in line with the patterns traditionally worn by men. I happened to check in the $1 rack in Wal-Mart's fabric department, and I found this fabric. ($1/yard x 2 yards) + free hemming courtesy of Angie = $2 sarong. Beat that deal, girls!

I didn't think I'd ever wear it outside of the house, but today I even proved myself wrong and wore it to Byron and Kathy's house. I'm pretty sure everyone thought I was stark raving nuts, but I really didn't feel too uncomfortable, social-wise, and I was physically quite comfortable.

Cutest. Boy. Ever!

Sorry, Travis, Melanie, Brian, and Krista, we have to officially claim the cutest boy ever! Don't worry, though, your boys are pretty darned cute, too!

Ty looked so cute today all dressed up for church that we had to snap a few pictures. I know we're partial, but we think he's pretty awesome!

Freaky!

I'm not saying David is possessed, but, well, you decide for yourself:

Cyclops Angie

A miracle happened today....I went to the eye doctor. So, I've always bragged about how awesome my vision is and how I was the only one in the family not to have to wear glasses. Well everyone, the time has come. I don't need glasses, but I do need one contact. Apparently I have horrible...I do mean horrible, vision in one eye. The other eye is 20/20. Crazy huh? I think it's pretty funny. During the eye exam they had me cover my right eye with the paddle thingy and the tech asked which row I could read. I said none. I really couldn't see anything with my left eye. I said I knew the top letter was an E but that it was still a little blurry. I knew it was an E anyways. It's always an E. So yes everyone...I am going to get one contact lens for my blind eye. I think it's really funny actually. Just call me Cyclops Angela or One Eyed Angela....ha ha! I never knew something this severe could happen to anyone. It's funny.

Here is proof that I actually went to the Eye Doctor. I know, it's a miracle. And, we've never had vision insurance before now.

After I realized I had one bad eye and one good eye. The techs thought I was pretty funny.

Which eye is bad and which one is good???? I have such pretty eyes hugh???

It's awesome. A lot of the freebies are from Wal-mart and other trust worthy places. I've gotten a ton of free deodrent, free travel size toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, we've gotten free soda.....not that we need it or anything, free food, free barilla pasta and free barilla pasta sauce for a year, free granola bars, free everything. Just check it out, I bet you'll find something free that you'll want to try. I think it's pretty cool. DO IT! DO IT NOW!

Here is a picture for my gluten-free family members of a product I got free just today. It's a granola/nutrition bar that I received today to try out. IF you would've known about dealtakers freebies, you could've gotten one too. I hope you at least look at the freebies. Trust me when I say it's worth it.

Basement update

Our beautiful base boards. Cory and Dad did a good job.

Now you see our crap.....

Now you don't!!!

Another baseboard picture of just a straight wall.

Our basement is coming along quite well. We are a little slow at getting things done. But, it is hard for Cory to work on things when he gets off work and 2pm and I go into work at 3pm and then get off at 7pm and then it's Tyler's whole bedtime routine till 8pm and then we finally get to relax for a bit before bedtime. It's been pretty crazy lately. But, Dad was able to come over to our house the other night to help Cory put trim around the door and then put baseboards up. YEAH! We just have to clear out some crap from the middle of the room and then, it's carpet time. We inherited Mom and Dad's carpet from the family room they're remodeling. It's only a matter of time until it's in. We'll keep you posted though.

AWESOME DEAL!!!

So, as you all know, Cory and I have a slight problem, or an addiction some may say. First, we like good deals. Second, we like soda. And, when soda is on a good deal....we have a problem. Yes, 12 packs of yummy, bubbly, deliciousness was on sale 5 for $10. So, of course, (Travis and Melanie can back us up on this) we had to stock up on our food supply. I think we have our one year supply fully stocked. The sad thing is that I don't know if it will last that long. We really like soda. I also just have to say that the non-diet stuff.....aka.....root beer, are for root beer floats. Trust us when we say regular root beer floats taste better than diet floats. And for all of you out there who love soda as much as we do, Caffeine Free Diet Dr. Pepper tastes good. I really like it for drinking at night and when I was nursing Tyler back in the day.

Our one year supply.

I know, it's sad that we have more soda than food in our fridge. WE really do have a problem. HA!

Another great deal...

SO, I have to be like Melanie and post all my awesome deals. This deal may not look like the prettiest thing in the world, but it was FREE!!! Yes, I said FREE!! I went garage sale-ing a few weeks ago and we happened to fall upon this beauty. There was a little sticker on it that said free. I immediatly had wonderful plans for it. It would fit perfectly above our washer and dryer. Cory was very hesitant at first. You see, it was quite dirty and ugly at first. But, no worries, I sat in my little backyard with a rag to clean it and some white paint. It took a few hours, but, it looks fresh as new. I had some extra contact paper lying around, so I stuck it down to make it look a little prettier inside....and here it is. My new cabinet to hold my detergent and dryer sheets and some old rags and plastic baggies. I think it was quite a deal. Are you proud Melanie???

Target DEALS!!

We went to Idaho Falls the other day and of course we had to go to Target. We found some pretty good deals for Tyler's next summer wardrobe. The sandals were $3 dollars and the shirt was $1 dollar. We couldn't resist. We were only going to get him one pair of sandals, but for 3 dollars we decided that he needed two. The shirt is a bit big, but both Cory and I liked it, and for $1.....what a steal of a deal. He'll grow into it someday.

4th OF JULY

Our Patriotic Boy!!

Everyone kept giving Tyler flags during the parade. He loved them. The whole way home he kept waving them and laughing. They were his new favorite toy for awhile there.....and, they helped him get through the parade without getting too bored during the boring parts.

Here is Tyler playing YAHTZZE!! He would shake the dice in the cup and then drop them onto the felt in the square board. Then, he would take the dice and place them in the side square holders. He had such a blast playing this game.

We're getting settled for the biggest show in IDAHO!!

We can't forget the popcorn.

It seemed like forever before the fireworks started.

Tyler is asleep and I think Mom and Dad are close. They stayed up waaaay past their bedtime to watch fireworks with us. Was it worth it?

Pretty sparkles in the sky.

OHHHHH.....AHHHHHHH!

The 4th of July was pretty fun for us this year. Cory had to work that morning so I ended up walking to the parade with my dear neighbor Melissa and her three kids. Neither one of us had ever gone to the Pocatello parade before. We got some really good seats under some trees and on some grass. The two older kids and Tyler played on the sidewalk and when the parade started they sat on the curb waiting for the flying candy. Tyler didn't really catch on at first. And, once he did, he was a little to slow to get the candy. Abby and Spencer (the neighbor kids) would put the candy they didn't like on the ground and tell Tyler to get it. He had a lot of fun doing that. After the parade, we went to Cory's parents house for a backyard BBQ with his family and cousins. That was fun too. We hung out for awhile, played games, and visited. Then, we were off to Mom and Dad's for the FIREWORKS!!! I have never really watched the fireworks from Mom and Dad's house before....crazy. And I think they have only watched them through the window. It was fun laying on the grass and cuddling up with everyone to watch the fireworks. Mom and Dad even made homemade caramel corn for the special occasion. Everyone had their own little baggie. We tried to keep Tyler awake....we thought he would like them, but, he, of course, fell asleep right before they started and stayed asleep through the whole thing. Maybe next year he'll be able to stay awake long enough to watch them. I do have to say, that Mom and Dad's house is the best place to watch fireworks. SO, if anyone is in town for the 4th or want to come down to Pocatello...DO! It was fun. But, beware, it took us like 1 1/2 hours to get off that dang hill to get home. If Cory didn't have to work the next day we probably would've spent the night it Mom and Dad's basement.

Sleeping Tyler

Poor Tyler. The other night...I mean the other night as in the other week....we had put Tyler down to bed. He wasn't crying or fussing or anything. When we went to go check on him before we went to bed, we opened his door and there he was sleeping like a little angel. We thought it was pretty funny. He had dragged his blanket, his green gorilla, his elmo, and his boppy pillow to the door with him. I almost forgot his sippy full of water. Poor kid.

Holy blog postings Batman...

Just so everyone knows, we posted a ton of blogs this evening. Please look at them. They are cool. There's like 12 of them. Just as a warning.

Our basement....

The walls before the paint job. Cory did such a good mudding and sanding job though. Such good craftmanship he has.

I just wanted to let everyone know what we have been up to lately.....well...pretty much everything. Ever since school let out for the summer Cory and I have been trying to finish up our basement. It's a work still in progress. It's almost done though. Hopefully we'll have the carpet in by next week. Cory and my dad finished up the mudding and then textured and painted the walls. Cory then made a storage shelving unit in the back room for some of our boxes of crap we have down there. In the back room, he made a work area because he now works from home, in our basement. He has his little work computer down there and he takes calls from Direct TV customers. I can hear him sometimes when I am in the kitchen. So far, he likes it. But, it does have its advantages and disadvantages....for BOTH of us. For him, he's not around his little work buddies and so he can't exchange books or movies as easily and he can't hear the latest gossip as often as he would like. Another disadvantage for him is being stuck in an unfinished back room of the basement....it is cool down there though. For me, I don't do laundry in the mornings anymore. I'm afraid our washer and dryer will be loud. That's actually all for me. It is nice to see him on his break and see him when he comes upstairs for a snack. It's like a little bright spot for both Tyler and I. Cory likes just being able to wake up and walk just downstairs to go to work...he of course likes to see me every so often as well, but, what Cory likes most of all about working from home is that he gets to wear his male sarong to work. One of these days I'll get a picture of him wearing it. He looks quite handsome in it actually. His little buns are quite flattering in it to tell you the truth. Oh la la. Anyways, back to the basement. Last week we spent 3 hours....all in one day....at Home Depot, and hopefully we came home with everything we need to finish the basement. A door, baseboards, lights, ect., I'm hoping that on Monday we can get everything all organized and the baseboards and door painted and installed, so that on Saturday we can put carpet in and then we'll have a nice cool place to hang out in for the summer. I'll post more pictures later, when it looks a little more finished.

Mall carts

We were at the mall today looking for a book at Waldenbook and outside of the bookstore were these mall carts. Tyler liked them. They're like a dollar or so to rent, and we're really cheap, so we just let Tyler play in one for 10 minutes...until a crowd of kids started gathering around and started getting in them too. Uh Oh...what did we start? We had to leave before the Mall Patrol came and kicked us out for causing al ruckus.
